Session 4: Buddy Session: You and your best friend will share an Indoor/Outdoor Session.  We'll do photos of each of you separately as well as photos of the two of you together.  You'll be taking turns in the dressing room, so there's not much wasted time.  Also great for twins!! Each person will get their own proof book.  I charge each person a $250 session fee ($150 with the MR/100 Discount) The proof book, included as part of the session fee, will contain 10 Retouched Proofs and 45 Unedited Proofs

Session 3. Indoor/Outdoor/+Travel:   Are you interested in creating images in the studio, in my outdoor studio, in the woods, by the pool, at your grandma's barn, in your room, at the softball field, and at sunset by a lake, hair up, hair down, hair curled, hair straight--all in the same day? This is the session for you! We'll go wherever and shoot whatever you like!* You can guarantee a stress-free, fun-filled session. We can go wherever you want, shoot whatever you want, and make sure that you get all the creative portraits you desire.  Are you interested in creating images in the studio, outside, in the woods, at the pool, at your grandma's barn, in your room, at the softball field, and at sunset by a lake, hair up, hair down, hair curled, hair straight--all in the same day? This is the session for you! The cost for this session is $425 ($325 with the MR/100 Discount).  The proof book will contain 10 Retouched Proofs and around 65 Unedited Proofs.

We'll shoot for a long time and create many great portraits with this session.  I highly encourage people who opt for this session to purchase a Senior Portrait Book or Album so that you're able to cherish a large number of your favorite photos for years to come.

Session 2: Indoor/Outdoor:  We'll create portraits in the studio, in my outdoor studio, and perhaps at a neighborhood location.  This session offers provides a good variety of backgrounds, 5-6 clothing changes, and indoor and outdoor shots.  I charge a $325 session fee ($225 with the MR/100 Discount).    This session has triple the amount of time of the Indoor Only Session, adds outdoor locations, and includes a printed proof book!  The proof book will contain 10 Retouched Proofs and 45 Unedited Proofs. This session typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours.

Session 1: Indoor only:  For people who want a quick and easy session which combines the session and an ordering session at the same time.  This session includes 2-3 outfits and is indoor only.  We’ll take the photo for the yearbook, and then do several poses with different backgrounds.  Feel free to bring a simple prop such as a band instrument.  After the session, I’ll then bring the photos up on the big screen so we may view the photos and you will place your print order right then and there.  We'll have everything done in one evening! This session does not include a proof book.  The session fee is $200 (ONLY $100 with the MR/100 Discount!)

Session 0: Yearbook Only Session: If that's all you need, I offer a quickie session (roughly 15 minutes) where we do multiple poses in front of a gray backdrop (that's what the school wants, so that's what they get).  I'll pull up the shots, you pick the one you like the best, that one goes to the yearbook and you get the session, your image processed and submitted to the yearbook, and a retouched web-sized version (with my logo) for your social networking needs--ALL FOR $35 (plus tax).  You are able to also order prints from this photo if you wish (normal prices apply).  Referral Cards do not apply to this quickie session.  The $35 spent on this session can also be applied as a credit towards a 1 hour or longer session to occur in the future!  That means that you can get your yearbook photo taken in the cold months and pay the $35.  In April, when the leaves and flowers have come back, you can come back for a longer session and get a $35 credit taken off of that longer session fee!

I accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

THE SESSION FEE IS DUE AT THE TIME OF THE SESSION.  SALES TAX IS CHARGED ON SESSION FEES.

PROOF BOOK

You get a proof book with up to 10 retouched proofs and a group of unedited proofs presented in a printed book included with your paid session fee!!!*  Yes, you get to keep your proof book after you order your prints!  If you compare my prices with other studios, ask them what they charge for proofs, let alone a proof book!

*Session 2 and above.

Retouching consists of removing blemishes, softening skin, sharpening eyes, and cleaning up backgrounds.  Advanced digital enhancement techniques which are requested such as removing logos from shirts, removing tan lines, changing the colors of backgrounds or other substantial changes to the photograph will require an additional charge which is determined on a case-by-case basis.

WEB IMAGES will be posted to Facebook as I get the photos processed.  These will be roughly 400 x 600 pixels with my logo. This service is included in the session fee!  Click here for an example.

A Note to Seniors and Parents:  Several high schools require that the senior have their yearbook photo (meaning the picture that will be in the book) taken by the studio that is producing the yearbook.  Many people just go ahead and have this studio shoot all their photos and they pay the studio rate for those photos, which often results in a bill of near or over $1000.  What they don’t always make clear is that the basic yearbook shot sitting can be had for a small amount of money, leaving you free to have the majority of your portraits taken wherever you like. (Note:  I am an Approved Photographer for Beavercreek, so I can take and submit the yearbook photo.)

Since I have much lower costs than the big studios, you’ll find that paying the low fee for the yearbook shot at the “approved studio”, then coming to me for the bulk of your senior portraits can save you hundreds of dollars (depending upon your order).  I encourage you to compare the sample photos, compare prices, and make an informed decision.

BEAVERCREEK HIGH SCHOOL:  I am on the Board Approved Photographers List and may take photos and have them sent in for the yearbook.  IMPORTANT!: I have to have the photographs for the yearbook delivered to the yearbook office no later than the first Friday back after winter break.  My last day for scheduling Beavercreek seniors will be Dec. 6 (the high school needs the list of people I'm photographing by the 15th).  The last day for shooting Beavercreek Seniors to make this deadline will be Monday, December 20.  Sessions are filling up quickly and there are only so many slots, so call soon to set up your appointment!

IF YOU ONLY NEED THE YEARBOOK PICTURE TAKEN:  If that's all you need, I offer a quickie session (roughly 15 minutes) where we do multiple poses in front of a gray backdrop (that's what the school wants, so that's what they get).  I'll pull up the shots, you pick the one you like the best, that one goes to the yearbook and you get the session, your image processed and submitted to the yearbook, and a retouched web-sized version (with my logo) for your social networking needs--ALL FOR $35 (plus tax) You are able to also order prints from this photo if you wish (normal prices apply).  Referral Cards do not apply to this quickie session.  The $35 spent on this session can also be applied as a credit towards a 1 hour or longer session to occur in the future!  That means that you can get your yearbook photo taken in the cold months and pay the $35.  In April, when the leaves and flowers have come back, you can come back for a longer session and get a $35 credit taken off of that session fee!  I encourage darker shirts or sweaters for the yearbook shots.  They tend to look better and let the face of the senior model be the center of interest in the photo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Grooming

I encourage all senior models to be very careful when shaving, plucking eyebrows, painting finger or toenails, etc. before the session.  The occasional stray hair anywhere on the face can be very time consuming to remove when retouching.  It is impossible to "shave" a young man after the photos have been taken.  I cannot "paint nails" after the photos have been taken.  Please come to the session looking the way that you want to appear.

Can I bring a friend or family members?

Sure, no problem.  It's always good to have moral support and "cheerleaders" around (although there isn't room for a whole squad!)  If they want to jump into a pic or two, that's fine.  There are no additional per-person charges.

Can I bring music?

Yes!  I always have the radio on, but if you bring your iPod or MP3 player, we can plug that into my stereo and play it through the studio speakers.

What should I wear?

You should consider bringing 2-3 outfits for a 1 hr. session, 4-7 for 2 and 3 hour sessions.  Perhaps one could be more formal, a few with nice shirts or sweaters, and a sports uniform or something that reflects your hobbies or personal interests.  Limit the logos and phrases on shirts--what is cool today might date the photo in the future.  The photos should be all about you, not an advertisement for a store brand.  Flat jewelry is not recommended, as it can produce unwanted glare. If we're doing a group shot, I advise bringing clothing with similar colors so there's greater harmony in the group.

Should I wear my glasses in my photos?

Reflections from glasses and distortion of the eyes can be a problem.  If you can wear contacts or go without glasses, that would be preferable.  If you do wear glasses, make sure they are clean and smudge free, as any smear can increase the glare from glasses.  Another option would be to visit your optometrist and borrow a set of frames without lenses that match your normal glasses.  When glare does show up in shots, it's very difficult to correct.

Do you provide makeup services?

No, models are encouraged to do their own makeup, but go light on the makeup.  Be careful that the color of the faces matches the color of any exposed skin.  Make sure that your hair is how you want it and your face is clean and free of unwanted shine.  Retouching will be provided to remove minor blemishes.  A good recommendation is to stand about two feet in front of a mirror and give yourself a final check before the photo session.  Men should shave just prior to the session to minimize the 5 o'clock shadow.

How long does it take until the proofs are ready?

I usually will have a person's proofs ready in about 3 weeks.  This gives me time to work on each photo individually.

Do you do black and white photos?

All photos can be converted to black and white.  Black and white or sepia proofs are available upon request at no additional charge.

Where are you located?

In Beavercreek, Ohio, near the Fairfield Commons Mall. My studio is convenient to the Ohio communities of Beavercreek, Fairborn, Bellbook, Enon, Dayton, Yellow Springs, Riverside, Kettering, Huber Heights, Springboro, Miamisburg, Jamestown, Xenia, Cedarville, and Springfield and high School students and families from Alter, Carroll, and Dayton Christian.  If you live in Greene, Clark, or Montgomery Counties and shop at the Fairfield Commons Mall, you’ve been within a mile of my studio.  I'm very close to I-675 between the Grange Hall and North Fairfield Exits.

FYI

If you are allergic to cats (I have one short-haired cat) or cannot walk up and down stairs (my studio is in the lower level of my home), please let me know in advance.
